Women's Basketball: Vikings crush Central Washington University at home

Western’s women’s basketball team won their third game in a row, beating Central Washington University 75-64 on Saturday, Feb. 18.

The Vikings sit in second place in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference 12-4 and 18-6 overall.

Junior guard Corinn Waltrip led the Vikings with a team high 15 points. Junior center Britt Harris and senior forward Kristin Schramm added 14 each. This was Schramm’s final home game of her college career.

Western ended the first half with a 10-2 run and led going into halftime 37-34. The Vikings led for the entire second half and by as much as 16 points.

With 4:59 to go in the game, Central scored for the last time until a free throw at the final 31 seconds. The free throw would be the last score of the game for both teams.

The Vikings were 9-2 at home this season and will end the season with two games on the road where Western has been 5-2.

First, Western will face Seattle Pacific University on Thursday, Feb. 23 and then will travel to Montana State University Billings on Saturday, Feb. 25 for the final game of regular season. This is the first time Western has faced these teams this season.
